The Sunsword or Bright Blade, was a sentient magical sword that Sergei von Zarovich wielded before his death. Once Barovia was swallowed by the mists, Strahd von Zarovich ordered the blade to be destroyed, but it only lost its blade before evading its end.[1][2]

Description[]

The Sunsword appeared as a platinum hilt, pommel, and cross-guard, but missing its blade. However, once a creature attuned to the Sunsword, it could make the sword function like a sun blade.[2]

Powers[]

The Sunsword worked really well against undead for it had the power to create magical light as well as deal radiant damage thanks to its holy blade.[3]

Personality[]

This hilt of a once-powerful sword was bent on taking its revenge for its lost blade and it was devoted to killing Strahd, but more so to free Barovia from his grasp. Because of its weakened state, the Sunsword secretly feared its own destruction.[2]

Legends & Beliefs[]

It was said that the Dark Powers made sure that the Bright Blade entered the Domains of Dread so that it could cause Strahd von Zarovich more problems.[1]
