Sri Raji (pronounced: /sriˈrɑːdʒi/ sree-RA-jee[1]) was an Island of Terror ruled by Lord Arijani.[2]
Description[]
Sri Raji was a large domain isolated by the Mists.[2]
Geography[]
Sri Raji was a hot, humid realm, covered in dense jungle. There were at least three towns, the areas around which the jungle had been cleared to make room for rice patties.[2]
Geographical Features[]
The Yamasha Mountains rose in the western part of the domain.[2]
Flora & Fauna[]
Giant insects, monkeys, snakes, spiders, elephants, carnivorous plants, and tigers were among the wildlife that lived in Sir Raji's vast jungles.[2]
Government[]
Sri Raji was openly ruled by the rakshasa Lord Arijani, in his guise as the human High Priest of Kali.[2]
Defenses[]
When Ajirani wished to seal the borders of his domain, a wall of phantasmal killers formed and attacked any who tried to leave.[2]
History[]
In 670 BC, the domain of Sri Raji manifested into existence. Following the Grand Conjunction in 720 BC, the domain merged with Saragoss and The Wildlands to form The Verdurous Lands cluster.[3]
Notable Locations[]
There were a few important locations in the jungles of Sri Raji.[2]
- Mount Yamatali: The highest peak in the Yamashi Mountains.[2]
- The Accursed City: A great temple on top of Mount Yamashi, it was also Arijani's lair that he rarely left.[2]
Inhabitants[]
Sir Raji's people were devout and fearful worshipers of the goddess Kali who believed that life in Ravenloft was a punishment for lacking true faith. They also believed that one of them must "relinquish their earthly bonds" each day as proof of their piety, and that the victim left Sri Raji to commune with the powers. The victims were actually eaten by Lord Arijani. Their society was divided into strict castes. Towns were very crowded and families were large.[2]
Other creatures that lived in Sri Raji included nagas and weretigers.[2]
Besides Lord Arijani, the only individual of note living in Sri Raji was the weretiger Jahed, who roamed the jungle and plotted against the rakshasa darklord.[2][4]
