Snow golems were a type of golem constructed entirely out of snow.[2]

Description[]

Snow golems could be sculpted into a wide variety of appearances. Though they were typically seen in a humanoid form with some form of armor and helmet, appearing like a knight or northern barbarian. Other times they were noted as resembling arctic creatures, such as snow tigers and polar bears.[2]

Abilities[]

Like all golems in Ravenloft, snow golems possessed some form of immunity to magic, though the unique material they were constructed of provided a number of distinct traits. They were notably invulnerable to water-based and cold-based attacks, their bodies instead healing from the damage that would have been caused. Magical fire was capable of harming them, though it would cause their bodies to release a cloud of scalding steam within a 20 feet (6.1 meters) radius.[2]

Whenever snow golems were struck with lightning attacks their bodies would store the charge and conduct it to the next creature they made contact with.[2]

Nonmagical weapons made of metal typically shattered when used against snow golems. In rare cases, this was known to occur with even magical weapons.[2]

Combat[]

Snow golems typically fought by striking opponents with their fists or grappling them. They were also known for being able to breath a cone of cold.[2]

History[]

Snow golems were first discovered in 737 BC on the island of Todstein.[2]

Ecology[]

Wizards of quite high level were capable of constructing snow golems, but the process would take over four weeks and cost them around 45,000 gp. This process could only be done in areas that were either naturally cold or refrigerated.[2]

Myths & Rumors[]

Though snow golems were known to be incapable of thinking on their own, there were rumors that some achieved free will and gathered together in small communities.[2]
