Mud zombies were a unique form of undead created by Azalin to protect the borders of Darkon from invaders, such as Vlad Drakov.[1]

Description[]

Mud zombies were wholly or partially skeletal bodies, usually human, supported by a thick layer of slimy mud.[1]

Abilities[]

Mud zombies could be significantly weakened by immersing them in water, hitting them with holy water, or having them caught in rain. All of these would dissolve the mud that acted as the skin of their bodies. Other known methods for immobilizing mud zombies included freezing them, such as with the spell cone of cold, and transmuting their mud into rock.[1]

Combat[]

Mud zombies were slow-moving fighters that attacked by clawing at their opponents. Sometimes they would reach out and try to grapple opponents close to their bodies in an attempt to suffocate them.[1]

The mud on their bodies caused the wounds they inflicted to fester and take twice as long to heal if not treated by holy water, curative spells, or some other form of sterilizing process.[1]

Ecology[]

Mud zombies were often created at battlefields or graveyards that were situated near a source of water, such as a lake or bog.[1]

Mud zombies were typically left lying in the location where they were created. They would lay dormant in the location, arising only when an intruder passed through the area. If a drought occurred in the area in which they were buried, it would become too dry and hard-packed for a mud zombie to arise.[1]
