Maligno, formerly known as Figlio, was a carrionette, a race of evil sentient toys and puppets, and the Domain Lord of Odiare.[1]
He was created on Gothic Earth by the toymaker Giuseppe, who desperately wanted a son. Then named Figlio, he was hated and mistreated by the adults of Odiare, but liked by the children. Because of this, he drove his creator mad and enslaved him to create an army of carrionettes and then he ordered the killing of all the adults of Odiare. This act made the Dark Powers bring Odiare into Ravenloft, make it a Domain and make Maligno it's Domain Lord. He garnered the love and adoration of children whilst murdering all adults because they would not believe he was real.[1]
His curse was that he couldn't possess the body of a human (an ability shared by the average carrionette). He didn't like Giuseppe, but needed him since Giuseppe was the only one who could repair Maligno and any damage done on Giuseppe was reflected on Maligno.[1]
