Goblyns were a race of monstrous humanoids unique to the Demiplane of Dread that were transformed from humans by evil magic and bore a resemblance to goblins.

Description[]

Goblyns had warty greenish-brown skin, pointy ears, and shaggy manes of hair around the base of their skulls. Their heads were oddly shaped, with a number of depressions and bulges, and were largely taken up by their fanged mouths that could open up to extraordinary degrees. Their eyes lacked both pupils and irises, but glowed red like embers.

In the domain of Forlorn, goblyns were known to wear thick woolen kilts, usually tattered and stained, and distinctive tartans. They were also known to wear leather belts, harnesses, and sporrans from which they carried various trinkets and weapons.[1]

Biology[]

Goblyns did not require sleep, never tired, and could go a long time without consuming any form of food or drink.[citation needed] They were not known to reproduce by conventional means.[1]

Behavior[]

Goblyns were a subservient race whose main desire was to carry out the wishes of whoever was their master, even if it meant attacking their own kin. They were incapable of boredom.

Combat[]

In the domain of Forlorn, goblyns typically fought with crude or damaged weapons that they had scavenged from prisoners or the domain's ruins.[1]

Society[]

Goblyn

In the domain of Forlorn, goblyns were organized into groups of clans. These were often belligerent and competitive with one another, each staking out small areas of Forlorn to claim as their own territory. When not fighting among themselves or out hunting, goblyns in Forlorn worked diligently to cut down the forested land's many trees for their Master.[1]

Diet[]

Goblyns were strictly carnivores and would only eat fresh meat. They were also known to drink the blood of their victims.

Relationships[]

Goblyns were typically known to serve evil mages, often as guards and sentries. Wizards and priests occasionally hunted for them, as their bodies could be used as components in spells and magical items that controlled humans.

In the domain of Forlorn, all goblyns served Tristen ApBlanc. These goblyns possessed a strong enmity towards druids and spent much of their time scouring the land in search of ones to kill.[1]

In the domain of Nidala, some goblyns were kept by Elena Faith-hold as servants within the dungeons of her keep.[2]
