Gargoyle golems were a type of golem that resembled a gargoyle.[2]
Description[]
Gargoyle golems resembled their namesake and were difficult to distinguish from simple statues when inactive. Their bodies were known to be carved from single slabs of granite.[2]
Abilities[]
Like many of the golems in Ravenloft, gargoyle golems possessed an immunity to almost all spells, with some exceptions. The spells earthquake and dispel magic for example were noted as being capable, if targeted directly at a gargoyle golem, of shattering them instantly.[2]
Despite being carved with wings like their namesake, gargoyle golems were incapable of flying. They also were incapable of communicating in any way.[2]
Combat[]
Gargoyle golems typically confronted their opponents by pouncing on them from heights up to 100 feet (30 meters). Once up close, they would pound enemies with their stone fists and petrify them.[2]
History[]
Gargoyle golems were invented by Vlad Drakov to defend his castle, but the secret of their construction was leaked to the public.[citation needed]
Ecology[]
Gargoyle golems were typically constructed to protect a specific structure, such as cathedrals or tombs.[3]
Myths & Rumors[]
Some believed that all gargoyle golems, regardless of who created them, were subservient to Vlad Drakov and would be unwilling to attack him if commanded.[citation needed]
